Since before I can remember, I have loved music. The obsession began with the violin at age 3, and with tireless support from my family and mentors, I debuted my first major composition for piano and orchestra at 18.
After earning a degree in music composition and psychology in 2014 and moving to Australia, I realized that I needed to apply my skill set to something more than art—to something with more utility and impact.
In 2016, the UX Design course at General Assembly brought my path into focus. My intrinsic creativity paired with my understanding of research and experimentation provided a solid foundation to launch me into the Melbourne UX design scene.
I spent five incredible years in Australia, and gained experience on a wide range of projects in client-side and agency-side teams, both at start-ups as well as established companies.
In 2020, I relocated closer to my family near NYC and earned my NN/g UX Certification.
My current role is Lead UX Designer at Amalgam Rx, the world's leading SaMD platform company developing digital medicines and patient support programs.
My previous role at isobar was focused on strategy and design for both client-side and server-side optimization tests
The majority of the projects I've designed have involved personalization. At Sportsbet, I was the lead UX designer for the Personalization Team
I have planned and led more than 15 Design Thinking workshops of all shapes and sizes, the largest for 250+ participants
I have been responsible for the research and design of 10 major projects, for both customer-facing products and services, as well as internal company projects
I have been part of a variety of delivery teams, which have managed front-end features for mobile, tablet, and desktop, as well as back-end services
I am highly adaptive, from stepping up to serve as BA and PO in bringing a feature to market, to creating an entirely new way of working to grapple with COVID-19
Before moving back to the USA, I gained exposure to the high-caliber tactics needed to innovate design solutions for global clients at the creative agency isobar.
Before isobar, I enjoyed the controlled chaos of a large tech department facing some of the biggest challenges in the Australian digital market at Sportsbet.
Prior to Sportsbet, I experienced the whirlwind of a meteoric start-up design agency at Bourne Digital.
I began my UX design career on a lean, start-up team tasked with expanding market share for a veteran brand in the Australian hospitality POS space, Impos.
I draw a lot of inspiration from classical music composition. Here's a conversation with one of my mentors Jack O'Donoghue, where we explore the overlaps between music, design, psychology & creativity.
14:27 • Art vs. design, amateurs & pros, the motive to create
20:43 • Design Thinking, different conditions for creativity
29:26 • 3-stage creative process, the psychology of flow
40:27 • Thinking Fast & Slow, aha moments & tunnel vision
53:11 • Music composition principles applied to UX design
Whatever comes next on my journey, my goals are to continue refining my design process and keep creating solid products and services with passionate teams.
