Melbourne, Australia
Jun — Oct 2016
Since 2005, Impos has grown to become the leading POS provider to the Australian hospitality industry, used by thousands of venues across the country.
At Impos, I was part of a scrum team that was developing a cloud-based POS system for hospitality venues. As my first full-time UX Design gig, I was absolutely ecstatic!
A lot of my first few weeks were spent doing contextual inquiries around Melbourne, observing and familiarizing myself with the incredible food scene.
Alongside the UX Design Manager, I conducted user research in the field and liaised with our beta-customers, which included running a usability lab, creating surveys, and conducting interviews. We created personas to keep our focus on who we were actually designing for.
After doing a heuristic evaluation of the app and its main competitors, we then synthesized all our findings into a thorough expert review of the app.
From there, we worked with the Product Manager to create and prioritize a backlog of design improvements. Then we were well prepared to continue designing new features and improvements to the app through sketching, wireframing, prototyping and guerrilla testing with our beta customers.
